 Black Fish Charters is more than a business; it’s a lifetime in the making. Founded by Max Johnson and operated alongside his brother Sam, our roots run deep in Sitka’s coastlines. As born and raised Sitkan, we grew up in the wheelhouse of our father’s boat, learning the trick of the trade before we could even walk.

 Following in our father’s footsteps, Max launched Black Fish Charters to turn a lifelong passion into a premier, low-capacity experience for others. When you step onto our boat, you aren’t just hiring a guide—you’re joining two brothers who live and breathe these waters. We take pride in sharing the secret spots, local lore, and world-class fishing that have defined our family for generations.
